Get involved with the 2010 GreatNonprofits Arts Appreciation Campaign

CIAF_logo

There are two and a half weeks left for you to be part of the 2010 GreatNonprofits Arts Appreciation Campaign. People are speaking up about nonprofits that have enriched their communities through the arts.
What will they say about you?

Check out the reviews…

If you don’t have any reviews yet, read on to see how you can get reviewed.
GreatNonprofits has teamed up with Guidestar and Intersection for the Arts to launch the 2010 Arts Appreciation Campaign to recognize the top-rated nonprofits that enrich your community through the arts.
If your nonprofit has at least 10 positive reviews (4 or 5 stars) by February 28, you will receive exposure to potential donors via the GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Arts Nonprofits list and via Guidestar, the premier site for philanthropic research on the Web.

Benefits:

Increased exposure to donors: Potential donors will want to read personal accounts of your impact. In 2009 more than 450,000 people visited GreatNonprofits to read and write reviews.

Improved community loyalty: Take this opportunity to engage your stakeholders. Your clients, volunteers, donors, and board members who write a review about you are likely to become more ardent supporters.

Gain powerful, authentic stories of your impact that you can use in your internal and external communication. Your community will be sharing with the public their best experiences with you.

How you can participate: Invite people who have seen your work – your volunteers, clients, board members, and others – to write a review about you. It’s easy! You can:

Send them an email with the link to your reviews page: www.greatnonprofits.org/reviews/changing-images-art-foundation-inc (Sample email provided below)

Copy and paste this message into your Facebook status or Twitter update: Do you love & support our work? Share your experience with us before Feb 28 & help us shine in the 2010 Arts Appreciation Campaign: http://www.greatnonprofits.org/reviews/changing-images-art-foundation-inc*

*We suggest you use: http://cts.vresp.com/c/?GreatNonprofits/ab83e1ec1c/9e1f8bd3b9/ab0b65b1d0 to shorten the link to your GreatNonprofits profile. That way the message will be usable for both Facebook and Twitter outreach.

Make sure your nonprofit takes this free opportunity to shine! Campaign deadline is February 28, 2010.

Christopher Academy 2009/2010 Commmunity Service Project

feeding homeless

The 2009/2010 Community Service Project put together by the Christopher Academy Parent’s Association was held in classrooms January 25th-27th. The event was a great success!

This year’s project was for our children to prepare bagged lunches for clients of St. Joseph’s Social Services in Elizabeth, NJ. In addition to preparing the bagged lunches, the children learned about overcoming challenges by reading books in the classroom.

More information on St. Joseph’s Social Services can be found at www.stjosephelizabeth.org or by clicking here.

The Community Service Project is an important tradition of the Parents Association, linking families, children, classrooms and community in a visible way for the children. We hope you’ll take a moment to get involved.

Aveda Awards BOHO Magazine for the 2009 Environmental Award

image008

Global sustainability leader Aveda(tm) and non-profit organization Green America have awarded BOHO Magazine the prestigious 2009 ‘Aveda Environmental Award for Magazines’ in the New Launch category. Boho is the FIRST fashion & beauty magazine to be receiving this type of award. After just one year in operation, it is truly a great honor to have BOHO Magazine recognized by the leader in corporate environmental continuity.

This award recognizes the achievement of magazines committed to environmental leadership in an industry where tragically, less than 2 percent of all magazine paper contains any recycled content.

Collectively, Boho and the two other category winners, have saved 64,794 trees, conserved 20,60 BTU’s of energy, saved 5,653,166 pounds in greenhouse gases, conserved 30,068,235 of wastewater, and 1,455,240 pounds of solid waste.

Since its launch in 2008, BOHO Magazine has been committed to promoting eco-conscious products and practices, and using complementary eco-minded packaging. BOHO has ushered a new era for fashion magazines by delivering high fashion and beauty tips while also significantly reducing its impact on the environment. While similar high gloss magazines would require 296 tons of virgin wood from the forest, BOHO magazine prides itself on the fact that it uses none.

Congratulations to Gina La Morte and the team at Boho Magazine! We wish you continued success!

Green Listed! Greenest Celebrities Revealed

eco-earth

The team at MTL is ready to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! This morning I locked away the hairspray, banned all plastic, and made a breakfast entirely from the local farmers market produce. I was even feeling so much into the spirit that I decided to reuse my same dress from yesterday! Only two people noticed…

Taking as little transportation as possible this week is my goal as well as a strict vegetarian diet. I’m thinking…tofu stir-fry for dinner?

My Go Green tip of the week: Gather the random construction paper and markers to create Thanksgiving cards out of recycled paper. Send them to your family for a quick note of thanks or reach out to a homeless shelter as each year they look for different ways to brighten the smiles of the hungry and homeless.
